My mom has always had a green thumb. All my life I watched her grow something out of nothing. The best memories of my childhood were not of going to a theme park, they were actually of going to the backyard and picking fresh fruits and herbs for my mother to make juice or dinner. I really never thought about growing anything but one day watching chef Giada pick the herbs she was going to use from her window box made me want to follow the same concept. And so the journey began...
I got a window box and filled it with cilantro, basil, thyme, rosemary, and parsley. I soon discovered that that window box was not big enough to maintain these wonderful herbs. So I headed out to the dollar store and purchased a pot for each of the herbs and seeds. I bought seeds of everything; they were 4 packs for $1 dollar so how can I not buy them. I felt inspired.
Soon enough things began sprouting out of the dirt and here I had to make another trip to the dollar store to buy more pots. Pots required soil, and growing things required me getting educated. So, YouTube became my best friend and even making trips to local gardening events became a regular. Who knew? I would've never done that before but something birth in me and its nice. I like it. I look forward to opening my curtains every morning and staring at my back yard. I look forward to growing more things and I anticipate even more, eating what I'm growing.
So this is how the journey began and we shall see where this journey goes.
Till next time. In Him,
Debb
